The Capital Press is reporting that pretty much all the Farmers Markets in the state, that had to close a few years ago in response to the pandemic, have all been reopened for business and the public has welcomed this development.

The report states that Oregon’s farmers markets generated $54.5 million in revenue in 2022, down from $63 million in 2019 due to health concerns and mandates in 2020.

Despite the challenges, farmers markets in Oregon have grown by 10% since 2019.

Climate change-related issues such as heat waves, wildfires, and wintry conditions in 2022 resulted in the cancellation of 51 market days, causing a loss of $900,000.

Some markets have partnered with schools or community spaces to go indoors during adverse weather, and winter markets have become a growing trend.
