On Sunday, the vendors of Logan Square Farmers Market set up their stalls as usual, despite the threats from organizers that the market might be paused/closed due to concerns over pedestrian safety.

However, following protests from the vendors and the community, organizer Nilda Esparza reversed the decision because she had successfully obtained the permit to address safety concerns. Johnson, who was at the market on Sunday morning, didn’t give any details regarding the rapid reversal of the permit denial.

The market is situated on Logan Boulevard between the Illinois Centennial Monument and Whipple Street, and has been home to unlicensed vendors who set up stalls around the market area, particularly to the east, selling used items and art.
