The 2023 America’s Farmers Market Celebration (AFMC) is currently accepting votes through September 18 for the “People’s Choice” top farmers market in the country. The top 5 markets will receive up to $15,000 each for marketing and other needs. The top market in each state will also receive $100.
Two recommended local farmers markets are the Charleston Farmers Market in downtown Charleston and the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market. The Charleston market brings together Lowcountry history and hospitality. The Mt. Pleasant market is said to have a a breezy, coastal atmosphere.
The AFMC highlights the important role of farmers markets nationwide in providing fresh, local produce directly from farmers and supporting local economies.
